toxic

again, I pick up this pen
and write about vanishing
how once I was so strong
but I got lost in your song
you know this to be the truth
nothing but the truth

this little piece of me
that you continue to bleed
faithful or not this wound
leaves a very dark bruise
there is nothing that you lose
because it's not hurting you

I wish you had found your way
before we met that day
didn't show the sleight of hand
I'll never understand
and toxic you may be
but lethal fits for me

itch

I've got this itch
that needs to be scratched
I got close
but brought it back
it's growing stronger
day by day
all thoughts of you
increase its cache
what am I to do?
to relieve its pain
come on baby
jump on a plane
scratch this itch
as only you can

chantes

faire l'amour

Tokyo

you are in L.A.
waiting on your connection
you send me a funny text
on your way to Asia

we're both in Chicago
but the timing is all wrong
you're calling me every night
cause you want to tuck me in

Tokyo may be far
but your emails keep you near
a week won't be that long
oh, the Platinum miles you'll log

always

in this dream, this drifting haze
I am here, and loving you always
always

here I am and the time will come
I'll wait here for you, always
always

Birthday Wish

My wish for you is
that you bask in His glow
and each trail presented
is one that you know
that your foot never falters
that His light abounds
each hour of daytime
each night that surrounds

My wish for you is
that loving won't lack
the lives that you touch
will touch you back
that you always forgive
that you never forget
and lessons you've learned
will hold no regrets

My wish for you
is that the sun always shines
that you see grace around you
in all that you find
that when the rain falls
it restores your soul
a promise of the future
so that your dreams may grow

My final wish is
that you always smile
through the challenges you meet
and rough roads you may travel
may your load never be too heavy
or more than you can bear
and know that when you look
you left your mark there

Happy Birthday my friend *<:-)

omen

lightning flashes in the early dawn
followed by loud claps of thunder
when I awake, the rain is pouring down steadily
is this the cleanse I have waited for?
clarity and immunity finally?

it stops, as suddenly as it started
the sky is again blue
what kind of omen is this?

I-Pass

every mile that I travel, closer to you
takes me that much further away
always a bend in the road
another pothole that I hit instead of miss
one more flat tire
my car always out of alignment
from the wear and tear
unclear signs
endless construction
the road gets tougher
never an I-Pass to sail through the tolls

a little help, once in a while
would be greatly appreciated

can?

can my kiss be the match that lights your flame?
makes it burn white hot in the dark of night?
can you warm yourself by the intensity?
a combustible fuel coursing through your veins?

can I touch your heart like I touch your face
reawakening and rewriting our history?
can we compose the happily ever after to this song?
or has it incinerated down to smoke and ash?

can you read my mind and figure it out?
is there any chapters left that you haven't read?
will you ask me to dance and before the music is through
will you ask me to dance over and over with you?

After All You've Done For Me (lyrics)

These are my favorite lyrics: Bill Mallonee

I don't wanna lose this one before it is too late
Things just have a way of slipping through my fingers
When the strongest of convictions sort of gets bent out of shape
When the gnawing claw of doubt still lingers

You don't lose, don't lose
No pieces will you lose
After all you've done for me
It's the least I can do for you
You don't lose, don't lose
No pieces will you ever lose
After all you've done for me

As lonely as the final leaf swept from the barren tree
And the drugs, they don't go deep enough to set you free
And the fan blades reflect halo effects when I look up and see you
When the words won't frame the room you're in, pictures will have to do

To live inside these ruins where you move without a sound
Oh, to live inside this skin again and die outside your town
Oh, to break forth into sonnets
Oh Lord, keep me coming back
The stories that you tell your head to keep your heart intact

neologism

I have no doubt that you’re a wordologist
and that you place them well
I believe in neologism
and with it I excel
but luck is in the draw
and the tiles that you choose
how many used at once
it is your Scrabble expertise

wander

as you wander
my heart ponders
wondering if you'll wander this way

no longer putting meaning
in what I am reading
cause I know it is not about me

no matter how much I want to believe
it never was or never will be
about me

April 14th

on a spring day a year ago
on a day that was clear and cold
I met a lover with a heart of gold
he touched my heart, burrowed into my soul

a year in which we both have learned
each question answered, each concern
surprise around each and every turn
while the passion ignites and burns

times of happiness, times of pain
always faithful you remain
gold was struck in this deep vein
sun always shining after the rain

come with me

come with me to the sea
walk the sand on the desolate beach
take my hand, take my heart
lay with me, under the stars

come with me, don't delay
in this place I want to stay
you beside me night and day
in the sun and times of rain

come with me, let us start
I know I don't want to be apart
you are now a component part
in my soul and in my heart

heading out

I'm heading out
as quick as I can
where the air is clean
the water clear
just south of here is Heaven
ah...Mexico

eloquent poems and lyrics
without inserting

poet

I don't have any expectations
what is it that turned your head?
was it all of the pictures?
or the words from my heart you read?

can you be the poet?
the one I've been searching for?
can you fill my heart with romance?
where others have failed before?

uncovered

I pushed them deep
these feelings, I uncovered
from the depths of my heart
they swim to the surface
now that they are here
I'm gonna see what I have to do
they were a long time coming
I finally stopped running
baby, I'm coming back for you

this may be the last time
you read what I'm going to say
tell me what to do
as you hold my dreams at bay
is it your beautiful words?
the hidden truths of you
I'm holding on to these thoughts
this all may be for naught
maybe you have forgotten
I'll say it one last time
just in case you did
before it fades away
I love you

that's how it is

I am here beside you
holding on to your hand
this is not how it started out
not quite the way we planned
but it is all working out
as it grows and continually expands
we've got each other's back
that's how it is with friends

angle

you are the stranger
I wanted to know
hiding in the shadow
working your angle
an unseen danger
to my heart
the real you I still haven't met

the words I hear
sweet like honey
thick and vague
watching what you say
so nothing is conveyed
and no one can see into you
protection for all that you do

a feeling arranger
keeper of the key
that locks my love
nothing can free me
everything keeps you free
you were never in danger
of loving me

a friend in need

take comfort in your friends
and the warm hands that they lend
when it all goes wrong
and it just keeps playing on

when you've had enough
and life is calling your bluff
depend on those you know
to make the heartaches go

if you have a friend in need
and they listen to your heart bleed
wrap around their soul
stick with what you know

blank page

this page is bare in memory
you can write from abditory
a sonnet, lyrics, a poem of life
I read it all, reflecting

yes, I think you write for me
interpretation, of what I believe
I like to think I left a mark
tearing across your heart

renditions that I know aren't true
I've never meant that much to you
and still I read and for what it seems
I know it's my imagination

float

you and I want different things
and yet we want the same
you drifted in for a reason
don't float out again

I'm not trying to bring you down
I'm not about trying to change you
can't we just enjoy this connection
for as long as it will last?

I'm not the answer to your dreams
I hold no obligation
I know that I can't break your heart
that's already been given

give me just a tiny space
a minuscule spot in your heart
I'll give to you the things you need
and you can give the same to me
