unanswered

I professed it all 

my feelings and love for you 

by the light of the moon

I cork the bottle 

and toss it far out to sea 

in the early morning 

as I walk the beach 

I find the bottle at my feet 

my exposed love 

still enclosed, 

intact, unanswered
