moving on

I met you there and wanted you here
politely you decline, your will does resist
after you opened the door to my heart
you pack it all up and move on

I get through the evenings, look to tomorrow
eluding the dreams, long gone fantasies
what came as a shadow, disperses in the dark
after you took it all and moved on

now comes the time for me to move on too
not live in the past, with what little you left
will it always remain, that once sweet refrain
every thought, every feeling that was you

God

if God hadn't wanted me to prose
we would have never met
thoughts of you fill my blog
with more that needs penned yet

if God hadn't wanted me to dance
we would have never met
fast or slow, highs and lows
with more steps to learn my friend

if God hadn't wanted me to love
we would have never met
loving you isn't that easy
and still I give it my best

if God hadn't wanted me to be lonely
we would have never met
lonely still is I what I am
a cruel joke I guess

for M.S.

I'm reading your book
and enjoying the pages
a book about you
penned through the ages
thanks for the inscription
it doesn't put me to sleep
if anything I think
it is way too deep

M.S....

I only now returned from a late shift of work
Before I retire and rest these old bones,
My messages I'll read where on the Internet they lurk
Among the few that have found their way,
Yours is the one I find with good to say
Reading the note about enjoying the pages
Of a book that I've written in life's younger stages

Thanks..

more of me

if I give you any more of me
I won't have anything left
it's not like Little Big Town sings
you have really got me spinning
already, I can't catch my breath
baby, what more can I do
you have an unfair advantage
you have me and I don't have you

believe

I won't ever leave
if you want me to stay
tell me what you want
and I won't pull away

I believe what you say
I believe what you say

I want to be with you
tell me what is true
I can feel it all
is it there for you?

I believe what you say
I believe what you say

can you see the light?
feel the light of day?
can you hold me tight?
do you feel the same way?

I believe what you say
I believe what you say

can this all work out?
I can't see anyway
leaving me with these doubts
am I a fool to play?

I believe what you say
I believe what you say

reflection

candles loom
tests resume
the perfect gift?
resolving rifts!
a year moved fast
a sweet repast
a clean bill?
I pray He wills!

buffet

what am I hungry for?
the choices now are varied
each have different specialties
and it's been awhile since I've explored
the pleasures of different cuisines

Japanese is and option
flown in from Tokyo
but it could leave me hungry
after several hours

Mexican is always wonderful
but I can have that any time
I always do enjoy it
when I'm in old Mexico

Italian is a favorite
I will see what fare is offered
love the culture and the sauce
the language is so romantic
Tiramisu, a just dessert

maybe I should hit a buffet
where I can taste a little of each
then my options are open
I can taste all that I please
or one for each day of the week

kiss me, baby

you can kiss me with the moon-roof open
you're the only star I'll see
you can kiss me by the ocean
my favorite place to be
you can kiss me when it's raining
I don't care if I get wet
you can kiss me in slow motion
baby, that's the best kiss yet
you can kiss me under the ceiling fan
letting it cool these satin sheets
I don't care where you kiss me
but you know where it's gonna lead

toxic

again, I pick up this pen
and write about vanishing
how once I was so strong
but I got lost in your song
you know this to be the truth
nothing but the truth

this little piece of me
that you continue to bleed
faithful or not this wound
leaves a very dark bruise
there is nothing that you lose
because it's not hurting you

I wish you had found your way
before we met that day
didn't show the sleight of hand
I'll never understand
and toxic you may be
but lethal fits for me

itch

I've got this itch
that needs to be scratched
I got close
but brought it back
it's growing stronger
day by day
all thoughts of you
increase its cache
what am I to do?
to relieve its pain
come on baby
jump on a plane
scratch this itch
as only you can

chantes

faire l'amour

Tokyo

you are in L.A.
waiting on your connection
you send me a funny text
on your way to Asia

we're both in Chicago
but the timing is all wrong
you're calling me every night
cause you want to tuck me in

Tokyo may be far
but your emails keep you near
a week won't be that long
oh, the Platinum miles you'll log

always

in this dream, this drifting haze
I am here, and loving you always
always

here I am and the time will come
I'll wait here for you, always
always

Birthday Wish

My wish for you is
that you bask in His glow
and each trail presented
is one that you know
that your foot never falters
that His light abounds
each hour of daytime
each night that surrounds

My wish for you is
that loving won't lack
the lives that you touch
will touch you back
that you always forgive
that you never forget
and lessons you've learned
will hold no regrets

My wish for you
is that the sun always shines
that you see grace around you
in all that you find
that when the rain falls
it restores your soul
a promise of the future
so that your dreams may grow

My final wish is
that you always smile
through the challenges you meet
and rough roads you may travel
may your load never be too heavy
or more than you can bear
and know that when you look
you left your mark there

Happy Birthday my friend *<:-)

omen

lightning flashes in the early dawn
followed by loud claps of thunder
when I awake, the rain is pouring down steadily
is this the cleanse I have waited for?
clarity and immunity finally?

it stops, as suddenly as it started
the sky is again blue
what kind of omen is this?

I-Pass

every mile that I travel, closer to you
takes me that much further away
always a bend in the road
another pothole that I hit instead of miss
one more flat tire
my car always out of alignment
from the wear and tear
unclear signs
endless construction
the road gets tougher
never an I-Pass to sail through the tolls

a little help, once in a while
would be greatly appreciated

can?

can my kiss be the match that lights your flame?
makes it burn white hot in the dark of night?
can you warm yourself by the intensity?
a combustible fuel coursing through your veins?

can I touch your heart like I touch your face
reawakening and rewriting our history?
can we compose the happily ever after to this song?
or has it incinerated down to smoke and ash?

can you read my mind and figure it out?
is there any chapters left that you haven't read?
will you ask me to dance and before the music is through
will you ask me to dance over and over with you?
