Fascination

You took me past my limits
Far beyond imagination
Restoring things that I had lost
Instilling fascination

You talk about your feelings
Through lyrics and with prose
Always on a deeper plain
Than I had ever known

The time we share is special
In all conceivable ways
Thoughts and minds that are alike
I think about it every day

You need to do what’s best for you
I truly understand
Put the past behind you
To reinforce the man

I hope that with reflection
When you think of how we are
A smile will come unto your heart
And you'll be happy I was here

Side Arm Haiku

He said “I am afraid you will have to surrender your side arm.”
To which I replied “no way mister,
not in this lifetime!”

My Bet Is On You

If nice guys finish last (who says so)
In this race called life
My bet is on you

Like a dog at the track
Who’s ready to run and chase the metal rabbit round
My bet is on you

Like the horse who is favored last to win
That wins the derby and the cup
My bet is on you

Like the triathlon contestant
Who finishes in record time
My bet is on you

Although the hurtles are high
And you are still jumping
My bet is on you

You have what it takes
The stuff that dreams are made of
My bet is on you

My Spring Haiku

The plants are all green, the flowers blooming
The pool is heating up, finally warming
You are bringing spring to me

the fog

the fog rolls in
blanketing my soul
there’s something i’ve lost

i had it yesterday
when the sun filled my sky
when i was at peace

you were here yesterday
is that the difference?
where you the sun that filled my sky?

all I know is
now you are gone
and something has changed

when will my sun shine again
and remove this fog
that surrounds my earth?

Beach Storm

a beach storm comes
waves high and turbulent
strong undertows and rip tides
and the wind's fury tosses the sand
making mountainous dunes
the skies, dark and ominous
clouds and sand block the warm sun
and then the wind dies suddenly, the waves cease
all is calm again, the beach
swept clean by the forces of nature

Bed Of Roses

That perfect day
when we first met,
though cold and windy,
holds no regrets

The connection was forged
the desires were strong
Flirtatious glances
from hearts with longing

The crescendo builds,
and the passion starts
Anticipation meets
long after dark

And the bed of roses
on which we lay,
the sheets now cold
but the feelings remain

two way street

i realize as i listen to you
always with compassion and empathy
i hear every word you say

but, is it one sided?
do you hear me when i pour
my heart and life out to you?

are you taking in the things i say?
are you listening to me, in the same way?
if i ask a question, did you hear what i said?

do my thoughts and words go to your heart?
am i just your sounding board
and nothing more?

the troubles that are plaguing me
are blind to you
you do not see

no response to my questions
no answers for my fears
i do not sink in

friendship is a two way street
i know more about you
than you about me

read these words
take them to heart
show me i am wrong

thinking about you

yeah, I was thinking about you
missing the funny messages
the deep under tones

yeah, I was thinking about you
how’s the day going?
is it all in order?

yeah, I was thinking about you
your special chime on my phone
that doesn’t play

yeah, I was thinking about you
going through my day
giving it my best

yeah, I was thinking about you
and our short history
filed away in my heart

Sins Not Committed

You tell me with honesty and truth
Pain etched on your face
Paying for sins not committed

The wrong place at the wrong time
It has cost you dearly my friend
Payment extracted from your heart and soul

I know you and stand by you
Feeling your pain
Offering support and love

Get strength from me
Take all that you need
You have given enough

Redemption will come
Deliverance from this force
That has ravaged you

The Friendship

You hug me tight and kiss me chastely, goodbye
Although, you say it isn’t true
I feel a tear in the fabric that is our friendship

If You Wanted

If you wanted, you could stay
Forgetting all of those ties
That hold you back

If you wanted, you could stay
Lose the tensions of the past
Start over fresh

If you wanted, you could stay
It's an open invite
One you have heard many times

If you wanted, you could stay
Not yet you say
Timing is not right

If you wanted, you could stay
Think it over carefully
The invitation may have an expiration date!

Solidifying the Bond

We will take the chance
see what we can find
although, we have a lot at risk

Ante up for this ride, the stakes are high
Whether you know it or not
This gamble could be costly

Of all that we share
The bond that is our amity
means the most to me

If we make the wrong move
Make light of the circumstance
Ignore the warnings, all could be lost

We’ve come so far
Been down the rough roads
Made the turn successfully, together

Our eyes wide open
Sure of the best outcome, we place our bets
As we solidify the bond

Rekindle The Reason

I step out into the warm sun
Another long flight behind
Happy to be here

You smile and wave
Starting toward me
Happiness floods my face

We embrace
Crushing each to the other
Becoming one person instead of two

It has been too long
It has been too hard
The time together is too short

Rekindle the reason
Rebuild the fire
Restart the memories

I file it all away in my mind
Each nuance, each word, each touch
To sustain me when I leave

And till we are together again

April

It was cold for April
April can be that way
I didn’t mind

Seeing you blocked it all out
The way you looked at me
The want in your eyes

Returned with yearning in mine
As you touch my face
And put your arms around me

These moments together
Charged with electricity
Anticipation, excitement

The fires ignite
The passion burns
The weather no longer matters

Lost in the excitement
Lost in loving
Lost in each other

We are tucked away
Hiding from all
Consumed

The time spent passes quickly
We go our own way
For a very short time

The Friend

I’ve known you for a very long time
We’ve been through thick and thin
I hate the pain you’re feeling
And the stress you hold within

I know your times are troubled
And you feel that you’re in deep
No way out of this misery
The mountain is way too steep

Just know that I will help you
Any way I can
A shoulder you can lean on
Until you make your stand

No matter what the consequences
No matter how it ends
I am always here for you
I am your true friend

Call me if you need to
Be it day or night
Call and tell me what you need
To help you through your plight

With You

The last time we were together
The time was too short
Too much to do in a very short period of time

I want time to go slower
When we’re together
So we don’t miss anything

I want to memorize you
Drink you in
Know all there is

I want to savor the time together
Maybe do nothing at all but stay in
Make it last

The time is too short
For all the things I want to do
With you
